SHORT VIDEO LOOPS AND A CENTRAL VIDEO PORTRAIT WITH SOUND TRACK PRESENTED AT THE GATESHEAD OLD TOWN HALL - THE GOTH

Based in Johannesburg, South Africa, The Trinity Session has for the past 12 years focused on the public realm as its primary subject and medium, to the extent that it has specialised in the implementation of large scale public art projects nation wide. Platform 1 is therefor an extension of this knowledge and practice into the North East, UK. Platform 1, through a series of ephemeral research interventions, conversations and meetings in public space leading up to their 2 main performances in May 2013, serves as an artistic approach to reflections on change making through site-specific artistic practices. The project sets out to merge the languages of art and urban regeneration through artistic action as means of building – medium to long-term knowledge exchanges between Johannesburg and Gateshead/Newcastle. While the title of the project is suggestive of one of the sites for their main performance, namely the train station, this performance is a mid way stop between research conducted in 2012 and the planning of Platform 2 for 2014.
