> Corruption in my Society - Lucas Nkgweng

Central to Lucas’ work is the theme of corruption in society which he feels affects the public across the board in South Africa. His prints are made up of etchings, Mali Tile Cuts, Collographs and Wood cuts.
Artist’s statement: “My beautiful county is consumed by corruption, fraud and greed. Corruption is eroding what is supposed to be the brightest future of our people. It is everywhere, touching and embracing every one of us, gradually destroying the trust and loyalty of our people.”
Originally from Limpopo, Lucas studied a teaching diploma at the Mokopane College of Education and a teaching training course at the WITS Technikon. He has had various group exhibitions and a solo exhibition at the Culturcentrum in Belgium. He is presently working at the Artist Proof Studio as a printmaker and the Manager of Education.
