ABOUT THE SOCIETY OF PHOTOGRAPHERS
The Society comprises approximately 45 photographers from around the globe who share photography as an art form. Membership is strictly limited, purposefully anonymous and is by invitation-only. The Society holds ongoing review sessions and only work that is voted highly is revealed and sold to the art-buying public. Internationally acclaimed guest judges participate in such review sessions. Guest judges are chosen either on their merit as recognised photographers, recognised curators within the photographic art world or as highly regarded individuals from purposefully chosen fields who are able to review and appreciate photography from distinct perspectives. ABOUT "T E N"
The Society holds large-scale projects that culminate in physical global exhibitions and the publication of a book; the latest of which is "T E N". All members were invited to submit a panel of 10 images, with a word-based overview to provide the images with context. A photograph seen out of context must explain its full meaning in isolation. A photograph seen in context of the circumstances or events that form the environment within which it was taken - can be appreciated at an different level entirely. "T E N" serves as the platform to appreciate photographic art at this level. Of all entries received - only the best ten panels appear in the book and physical exhibitions in JHB, London and New York. The chosen panels and their respective authors will be revealed for the first time at the inaugural exhibition on 23 November.
